What is Keyword in SEO?
Keywords in SEO are key phrases that are added to the content of the website so that when the user searches for a particular keyword our website ranks at the top of the SERP for that keyword. Keywords are selected by following the process of Keyword Research.
What is Keyword Research?
Keywords research is the practice of shortlisting keywords that users of my product may enter into the search engine. For example, If we are Colgate, we may target keywords like:
- tooth paste
- toothpaste colgate
- best indian toothpaste
- best toothpaste
- teeth whitening toothpaste
Why is Keyword Research Important?
- Keyword Research is the starting point of all search marketing Campaigns.
- It provides guidance for new product innovation. For example, if I am a toy seller and I discovered a keyword like "Autism Toy" with a significant number of people searching for it, or the number of people searching for it is increasing month after month through keyword research. Then I'll be able to introduce a new category of autistic toys.
- Find opportunities for my brand in real-time. For example, when the film "Tamasha" was released, it featured the country Corsica, and as a result, keywords like Delhi to Corsica flight, Corsica Package, and so on gained traction and were highly searched for. These keywords were extremely beneficial to players in the aviation and hospitality industries such as Ibibo and Make My Trip.
What are the two types of keywords?
In SEO we divide the keywords into Branded and Non-Branded.
- Branded Keyword: When the user enters the Keywords that contain my brand's name as the search engine query, that Keyword is termed a "branded keyword" or "branded search."
- Non-Branded Keywords: On the other hand, non-branded keywords are those that are associated with my brand but do not contain the name of my brand. Depending on the circumstance, these might be either Products or Services that my company provides or Topics that my company is an authority and expert in.
